With most of our daily movement interrupted from the coronavirus pandemic, it can be difficult to keep the extra pounds off. If you enjoy your weekly yoga class, as much as I do, then you are probably missing your teaching instructor, regular workout groups, and the after work-out latte. Even if you are doing an occasional walk, it may be frustrating that you are still packing on the pounds. Now more than ever, exercise is important. It helps to deal with stress and depression, improve sleep, and boost thinking, learning and judgement skills.
Fitness Tips During COVID-19
Put on your exercise gear and take a run or walk around the neighborhood. Make sure you social distance. Do yoga in your backyard or in a park with friends. Make sure to check social distancing guidelines in your area.
Track Your Activities
You may have to keep a fitness journal or diary to keep track of your progress and help you stay motivated. There are tons of them out there. See which ones work for you. By tracking your progress, you will be able to give yourself a gold star for accomplishing a goal.
Get Social and Have Fun
Play a sport or game to stay motivated. Tap into that inner kid or even play with your kids. Use TikTok and practice your favorite dance moves. Play hide-go-seek with your kids. Make exercising fun by playing dodgeball or another fun sport.
Don’t forget to reward yourself! If you miss a day or don’t feel like working out, don’t beat yourself up. Instead just continue your progress and focus on how much better you feel after working out. Then treat yourself to a luxurious bath, deep skin cleansing and moisturizing, or even some frozen yogurt.
