Our Brand Story

🌱 The Beginning

About five years ago, Lisa founded Smart Girl Brand after realizing that the key to thriving in both career and life wasn’t just technical expertise, but the ability to master soft skills: communication, empathy, and adaptability. She began questioning the traditional idea that women must “have it all” by giving 100% in every area, a model that often led to imbalance and burnout. Instead, she sought a healthier way to manage the wheel of life:  finances, relationships, health, and personal growth, while still striving to be her best self.

✨ Next → A Cultural Shift

As Lisa explored this vision, she noticed a surge of women empowerment movements across social media and online: girl boss communities, lifestyle circles, and empowerment books were flourishing. She recognized this wasn’t a passing trend but a cultural shift toward connection and community. Drawing on her experiences leading employee engagement and ESG initiatives, she saw clear parallels between personal growth, career development, and financial empowerment. With her background in journalism, project management, and enterprise leadership, she realized she could package these insights into a platform that blended storytelling, strategy, and measurable impact. 

📚 Then What? → The Birth of Smart Girl Brand PRESS

Smart Girl Brand Press emerged as the publishing arm of this vision, beginning with a magazine and expanding into books. While many doubted the future of print, Lisa believed the information age wasn’t declining, but was simply evolving in how content was delivered. Platforms like TikTok and Instagram showed that people still craved knowledge, but in more digestible formats. At the same time, she remained committed to books, knowing that reading sharpens communication and deepens intelligence. For Lisa, books and magazines together form the foundation of Smart Girl Brand’s mission.

 

MEET THE FOUNDER & CEO

Lisa D. Henry is dedicated to helping women unlock their full potential. As she continued her career, she realized that many women struggle with balancing their work and personal lives, and often face challenges such as stress, burnout, and imposter syndrome.

She decided to create Smart Girl Brand, an editorial lifestyle brand, blending style, storytelling, and purpose-driven content.

Lisa has a bachelors degree in Journalism from HBCU Morgan State University, a master's degree from George Washington University in Project Management and Masters of Business Administration (finishing up last 6 credits). She works in Financial Technology and also manages Smart Girl Brand Company, LLC. She is also contemplating starting law school in 2026.

Fueled by a passion to uplift and inspire, Monet’s vibe is all about positive energy.
